The Salem Community College (SCC) Mighty Oaks men’s basketball head coach A.J. Williams has announced the signings of three student-athletes from Concord High School in Wilmington, Del.
Eric Neal – A 5-foot-11 senior point guard who emerged the last two seasons as one of the best fundamentally sound, true point guards in Delaware. “Eric is a three-year varsity starter who is not only a good basketball player, he is a great student and well respected by his peers, teachers and administrators as a honor roll student,” Williams said. At SCC, Neal will study business administration.
Paris Hickman – A 2018 Concord graduate and 6-foot-1 wing/guard transferring from Bryant & Stratton College (BSC) in Virginia, where he competed on the men's basketball team for one season (2018-2019). “Paris is a mature and experienced player originally from New Castle, Del.,” said Williams. “He is a very dynamic player as he is strong, athletic and can make plays in many different ways on the court. He is also a high-character student athlete who was named to the Dean’s List at BSC last semester.” Hickman will study accounting at SCC.
David Baronio -- A 5-foot-8 senior guard at Concord. “David is an energetic spark and leader who is a great teammate and super hard worker,” Williams said. “He is a member of the Blue Gold ambassador program which raises awareness and promotes volunteer opportunities for students with special needs. He was also a varsity quarterback for the football team and honor roll student.” Baronio will study education and plans to be a special education teacher.
“I am very excited to have these three guys coming on board with me as we begin this process of rebuilding the men's basketball program,” said Williams. “Over the past few months, I have had the opportunity to recruit and get to know these guys on and off the court and they are no doubt the model representation of the type of student athletes I want. They are skilled and experienced, will work hard on and off the court and are high-character students who will represent themselves, this program and College the right way.”
Director of Athletics Dr. Bob Bunnell added: “We are very excited to welcome Eric, David and Paris to the Mighty Oaks basketball program. To have three players from the same school and program join us is unusual, and should help lend some familiarity and continuity to the program.”
SCC will resume Mighty Oaks Athletics in the 2019-2020 academic year with cross country, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball and softball. For more information, contact Bunnell at email@example.com or 856.351.2239.
