Salem Community College’s Eric Neal has earned the Dr. Peter B. Contini College Service Achievement Award, presented annually to a graduating student who addresses College issues, displays school spirit, and actively participates in campus clubs and activities.  The award honors the President Emeritus who served SCC from 1997 until 2011.

A Dean’s List student majoring in Education, Neal successfully balanced academics with playing for the SCC men’s basketball team since fall 2019.

“Throughout his time at SCC, Eric has earned the respect of other classmates and fellow athletes and would often tutor or guide his peers working through the challenges of being a college student,” said Student Life Committee Chair and Director of Advising Laura Green at the recent Awards Ceremony. “If I ever had a student in need of peer advice, I would always say, ‘You should talk to Eric Neal about this.’”

Eric was the basketball team’s captain and served on the Mighty Oaks’ student-athlete advisory committee.  He made Second Team All-Region 19 and All-Garden State Athletic Conference player for the 2021-22 season.  He will transfer to Wilmington University, where he plans to continue his basketball career.

Neal has worked at youth camps and as a mentor at the Claymont (Delaware) Boys and Girls Club.
