Salem Community College’s Linda Marandola has earned the Dr. Peter B. Contini College Service Achievement Award, presented annually to a graduating student who addresses College issues, displays school spirit, and actively participates in campus clubs and activities. The award honors the President Emeritus who served SCC from 1997 until 2011.

“At SCC, we are proud to be the Mighty Oaks – especially when we have students like Linda,” said Student Life Committee Chair Laura Green. “She embodies the qualities of a Mighty Oak – strong, intelligent, and unyielding.”

Marandola graduated in 2020 with a degree in Health Science and earned a certificate in Pharmacy Technician in May.

“I am truly honored to receive this award and take pride in the achievements I have accomplished while attending Salem Community College,” said Marandola, a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges, and a Dean’s list recipient.

At the recent awards ceremony, Green shared the following insights from Marandola’s nominator: “’Linda is a fighter. Nothing can knock her down. She has battled cancer and never gave up on earning her Health Science degree along with a Pharmacy Technician certificate. She is an exemplary student and a source of inspiration for the College community!’”

Marandola is an instructional aide for fellow SCC students. “Students across campus benefit from her support and experience,” said Green. “We thank Linda for sharing her gifts and talents to make our community a better place for all students.”
