Salem Community College’s Maura Cavanagh Dick, Jennifer Martin and Jenna Lucente presented at the 21st annual Innovations Conference of the League for Innovation in the Community College.
Their presentation -- "Advising Ownership: A Shared Approach to Reinvigorating the Advising Model” -- reflected the successful changes SCC has implemented with faculty advising.
The SCC delegation’s session was targeted for community college colleagues seeking new ways to think about advising, student success and retention. The SCC representatives highlighted the shared, proactive approach for cost-effective, proactive advising to support student success. Participants experienced and discussed the multifaceted approach, including advisor/student touch points and visual aids.
The conference, held at the Marriot Marquis in New York City, was attended by community college employees from across the United States and around the world.
Cavanagh Dick is Interim Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs and Associate Professor of Biology. Martin is Associate Professor of English and Lucente is Assistant Professor of Visual and Performing Arts.
