Kristin Lee Deady
Meet the GEC Staff & Faculty
Kristin Lee Deady received an AA from Salem Community College in 2005, her BFA from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2010, and completed her MFA at the Tyler School of Art in 2014. Kristin is the Glass Education Administrator at Salem Community College, overseeing both the Glass Art and Scientific Glass Technology programs at SCC's Glass Education Center. Before coming to SCC Kristin was the Glass Technician at the Tyler School of Art at Temple University; and taught in the glass departments at Tyler and the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. Kristin's work was selected for publication in the New Glass Review 34, in 2013. In 2015 she was included in the Governors Island Art Fair in New York, and in the 74th Woodmere Annual in Philadelphia where she was selected by the jurors to receive the Yvonne M. Kelly Prize for Mixed Media. Also in 2015, Kristin was a presenter at the Glass Art Society annual conference in San Jose, CA.
Kristin's work investigates the constructed nature of human perception. The perspective of each individual is relational, situational, and limited, as our senses are mere mediators between the outside world and our inner mind. Kristin's work freely crosses mediums and is more tightly bound to her investigations than to a specific material, though her ideas are often provoked, and informed, by her relationship with glass.
