Group Tours
We welcome groups to the glass center throughout the year for tours that are available at no cost. Our group tours include a presentation about the glass center and our programs, a tour of our state of the art facility, and live demonstrations of scientific glassmaking and artistic glassblowing. School groups may elect to add on a hands-on experience! Descriptions are listed below.
Available Hands-On Glass Experiences
Fused Glass Votive Candle Holder* (Fused Glass Picture Frame* and Suncatcher* also available), 1.5 hours. Participants will create their fused votive candle holders by cutting and layering pieces of flat glass and heating them in a kiln. Ages 4 and up. Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Minimum number of participants 10; maximum 40 per session.
Flameworked Glass Pendants, 2 hours. Attendees use heat, gravity and simple tools to create glass pendants. Ages 10 and up. Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Minimum number of participants 8; maximum 36 per session.
Hot Glass Paperweight* (flower* and ornament* also available), Participants will create their very own paperweight from the glass furnace in our glassblowing studio! Ages 14 and up. Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. 1 ½ hours. Minimum number of participants 6 (glass flower, minimum 10); maximum 20 per session.
*Due to the process, items will need to be picked up at a later date or can be shipped for an additional fee.
