Student Employment
Each semester, Salem Community College offers employment opportunities to enrolled students that are receiving financial aid. These opportunities are available only to qualified students. If you are interested in applying, please fill out the FWS application and bring it to the Financial Aid Office in order to be considered for a FWS position.
Off-Campus Positions
Salem Community College partners with community organizations that sometimes will hire student workers. These positions may require you to report to a location that is not on the college campus. You must complete the workstudy application to apply.
Job Title: FWS Restore Truck Assistant
Department: Habitat for Humanity of Salem County ReStore
Requirements: Must be currently enrolled at SCC and eligible for Federal Work Study.
Job Description
The Truck Assistant is responsible for helping Habitat for Humanity of Salem County ReStore staff on the truck. Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Helping on the ReStore truck picking up furniture
- Helping unload furniture at ReStore and placing on floor
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a strong individual willing to help carry heavy sofas
- Ability to present self well to donators
- Must be available on Saturdays 8am - 1pm

Job Description
The Biology Lab work-study is responsible for assisting in the organization, preparation and maintenance of the Biology Lab. Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Cleaning, organizing and inventory
- Preparation of materials/specimens
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience/interest working in Biology Lab
- Must be organized, self-motivated and independent thinker
- Position may include handling live/preserved biological specimens
- Preferred schedule Mon/Wed 12pm - 5pm; other day possible

Job Title: FWS Collegiate Support
Department: Collegiate Services
Requirements: Must be currently enrolled at SCC and eligible for Federal Work Study.
Job Description
The Collegiate Support work-study is responsible for assisting the staff in Collegiate Support. Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Daily mail and package receiving and delivery services
- Daily distribution and delivery of received items to requestors
- Responsible for copier data collection
- Responsible for data gathering and entry of the college asset inventory
- Maintain inventory of printer and mailing supplies
- Other duties as assigned by the Manager of Collegiate Support Services
Minimum Qualifications
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license
- Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 40lbs. conducting campus wide deliveries
- Must be able to work independently and with confidential information
- Must be capable and demonstrate ability to use and manage digital equipment including postage system, copier system and printer system
- Must be capable and demonstrate ability to perform inventory service
- Must be proficient using MS Office

Job Title: FWS Glass Education Center Aide
Department: Glass Education Center (GEC)
Requirements: Must be currently enrolled at SCC and eligible for Federal Work Study.
Job Description
The Glass Education Center work-study is responsible for assisting the staff and faculty at the Glass Education Center (GEC) in monitoring facility use. Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Monitoring and assisting students during open lab hours
- Assisting students in obtaining proper supplies for projects
- Enforcing GEC rules
- Reporting to supervisor any issues, problems, supplies needed
- Assisting with small projects
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be currently enrolled and attending classes at the GEC
- Must have available hours to work other than your own open lab use
- Must have knowledge of the equipment in the GEC
- Must be willing to enforce GEC rules and policies
- Willingness to do some lifting and shop cleaning duties preferred

Job Title: FWS Library Aide
Department: Library
Requirements: Must be currently enrolled at SCC and eligible for Federal Work Study.
Job Description
The Library Aide work-study is responsible for ensuring that the students using the laptops are SCC students and that they follow the computer rules and regulations. The work-study will also help ensure that the library is quiet and conducive for studying, researching and writing papers. Duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting Library Staff as needed
- Ensuring the usage rules & regulations are being followed
- Providing assistance & information when needed
- Shelving Library Books
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have some computer experience
- Must be willing to enforce computer usage rules & policies
- Must e in good academic standing

Salary: $9.00/hour
