Maura Cavanagh-Dick

Maura Cavanagh Dick is an Associate Professor of Biology. Along with her primary focus of teaching Anatomy and Physiology (A&P) courses, she also regularly teaches courses in Nutrition and Pharmacology for Health Services. Her scholarly interests involve improving curricula, assessment, and pedagogy to best support retention and preparedness for those in health-related fields. She is an active member of the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society (HAPS), where she served on the curriculum and learning outcomes committees and has delivered presentations on designing successful A&P laboratory activities at the HAPS annual conference. Maura served as the Chair of the Steering Committee for Salem Community College’s successful Middle States reaccreditation in 2016. In both 2009 and 2016, she was awarded the Salem Community College Academic Excellence Award and in 2009 the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence Award. Beyond her professional life at SCC, Maura lives in Collingswood, NJ with her husband, three children and golden retriever and can often be found on the sidelines of her children’s many athletic events. She continues to be an avid believer in health and wellness and enjoys running, biking, hiking and practicing yoga in her free time.
